It took me approximately one minute to advance the setting to 2560 x 144 Hz. Dead Space provides separate listings for every resolution and refresh rate combination. Note also that I'm using a monitor with a resolution of 2560 x 1140, and refresh rates of 60, 120, and 144 Hz. I think that if I can do a clean - TRULY clean - wipe of the program after uninstalling it, I may be able to get it to run, like it did on the very first install. I'd like to know, first, what residue is left behind after an uninstallation of Dead Space, so that I can manually delete said residue after uninstalling the program. Since no relevant changes have occurred on this computer from the first time Dead Space launched and the first time it crashed on launch, I think that - like many other programs - it leaves behind some configuration files, even after its uninstallation, that may be causing the problem. I've tried steps in other threads including reinstalling Microsoft components, restarting the PC itself in a limited boot mode via msconfig, and uninstalling and reinstalling Dead Space itself. I've researched this problem here and taken applicable steps, but my story seems to differ from the other threads in that A) my copy of Dead Space was installed through Origin, and B) upon the very first install, I was able to launch the program and make various configuration changes (most notably, to the resolution / refresh rate of the game, which are bizarrely linked) before exiting it. ![]() Dead Space 1 - installed through Origin - now crashes on launch. ![]()
